Wilkes Men's Volleyball Goes 1-1 at Lancaster Bible Tri-Match
LANCASTER, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's volleyball team defeated York College (NY) 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-17) before falling to host Lancaster Bible 3-0 (15-25, 12-25, 19-25) on Wednesday evening.
The Colonels are now 3-4 on the season.
In the first match against York, Wilkes was led offensively by sophomore
John Pietrzyk (Glen Lyon, Pa./Nanticoke), who finished with 10 kills. Freshman
Thomas Bogarowski (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) added eight kills while junior
Michael Henne (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) had six. Junior
Daniel Sales (Laflin, Pa./James M. Coughlin) led the passing attack with 31 assists.
Sophomore
Kyle Price (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) led the back line with eight digs, while senior
Dylan Smith (York, Pa./Dallastown) and freshman
Salvatore Purpura (Plains, Pa./James M. Coughlin) contributed six each.
In the second match, Pietrzyk again led the attack with eight kills while Bogarowski added four and Henne finished with three. Sales again led the way with 14 assists in the
pass game.
Sales led the back line with five digs while Purpura and Smith had four each. Sales, Smith, and Pietrzyk each had one block.
Wilkes returns to the court on Saturday when it travels to City College of New York for a tri-match with CCNY and Purchase College at 11 a.m.
