Wilkes Men's Volleyball Drops Opening Match against Elmira at SUNY Poly Quad
MARCY, N.Y. – The Wilkes University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision against Elmira College in the opening day of the SUNY Poly quad match on Friday night.
Wilkes fell 25-22, 25-19 and 25-21 in the three-set sweep. The Colonels stand 5-7 overall following the defeat while Elmira improved to 5-14 on the season after the neutral site victory.
John Pietrzyk (Glen Lyon, Pa./Nanticoke) topped the Wilkes hitters with eight kills and seven digs.
Thomas Bogarowski (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) followed with five kills and two service aces.
Kyle Price (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) anchored the Colonel back line with a team-best 12 digs while
Daniel Sales (Laflin, Pa./James M. Coughlin) finished with 20 assists on Wilkes' 21 total kills.
Wilkes returns to action at the quad tomorrow with matches against the host SUNY Poly at 11:00 a.m. and St. Joseph College (LI) at 1:00 p.m.
