Wilkes Men's Volleyball Finishes 0-2 at SUNY Poly Quad Match
MARCY, N.Y. – The Wilkes University men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the final day of the SUNY Poly quad match Saturday afternoon. The Colonels fell 3-1 against the host SUNY Poly before being swept by St. Joseph's College (LI) 3-0.
Wilkes fell to 5-9 overall following the pair of defeats.
In the loss against SUNY Poly, Wilkes fell behind 2-0 following 25-13 and 27-25 losses in the first two sets. The Colonels responded with a 25-13 win in set three before SUNY Poly clinched the match with a 26-24 victory in the fourth set.
Thomas Bogarowski (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) led the hitters with 12 kills and seven digs.
John Pietrzyk (Glen Lyon, Pa./Nanticoke) followed with 10 kills and six digs.
Daniel Sales (Laflin, Pa./James M. Coughlin) paced the passing game with 27 assists on 34 Wilkes' kills.
St. Joseph's College swept the second match of the day by scores of 25-11, 25-20 and 25-20. Pietrzyk and
Dylan Smith (York, Pa./Dallastown) topped the offense with seven kills each. Sales finished with 22 assists while
Kyle Price (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) contributed 11 digs.
Wilkes makes its home debut on Wednesday hosting Lancaster Bible College at 7:00 p.m. at the Marts Center.
