Wilkes Men's Volleyball Falls 3-1 Against LBC in Program's Home Debut
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's volleyball team made its home debut falling 3-1 against Lancaster Bible College Wednesday night at the Marts Center. The Colonels dropped the first two sets 25-21 and 25-23 before coming back to take the third set 25-21. LBC clinched the match with a 25-10 win in the fourth set.
Wilkes fell to 5-10 overall following the four-set loss while Lancaster Bible improved to 15-5 on the season.
John Pietrzyk (Glen Lyon, Pa./Nanticoke) led all hitters with a match-high 17 kills, seven digs and two solo blocks.
Mike Morrison (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and
Thomas Bogarowski (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) followed with six kills each and combined for nine total blocks on the Wilkes front line.
Daniel Sales (Laflin, Pa./James M. Coughlin) led the Colonel passing game with 31 assists and four kills while libero
Kyle Price (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) finished with a team-best 20 digs on the back line.
As a team Wilkes totaled 38 kills and 16 blocks.
Wilkes remains idle through spring break week before returning to the court Wednesday, March 15 with a trip to Penn State Altoona at 7:00 p.m.
