Wilkes Men's Volleyball Earns Split at Home Tri-Match
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's volleyball team split a pair of matches at its home tri-match Saturday afternoon at the Marts Center. The Colonels posted a 3-0 sweep of the College of New York before falling 3-0 against Wells College in the nightcap.
Wilkes stands 6-11 overall following the split.
Wilkes swept the match against CCNY recording its second victory of the season against the Beavers by scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-22.
Mike Morrison (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) led the Wilkes hitters with ten kills while
John Pietrzyk (Glen Lyon, Pa./Nanticoke) added six kills and four digs. Pietrzyk also topped the Colonel serve game with three aces.
Michael Henne (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) and
Thomas Bogarowski (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) each contributed four kills and
Daniel Sales (Laflin, Pa./James M. Coughlin) finished with 22 assists and five kills from his setter position.
Wells took match two by scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-14. Pietrzyk led the way with eight kills on 15 attacks adding 10 digs. Bogarowski followed with seven kills and seven assists. Morrison chipped in five kills while Sales finished with 19 assists and five kills.
Wilkes travels to New Jersey City University for a match that was rescheduled from January on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
