Big First Half Lifts Wilkes Women's Lacrosse to First Win of Season
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team outscored Wentworth Institute of Technology 15-3 over the first half cruising to a 24-5 victory Tuesday afternoon.
Wilkes recorded its first victory of the 2017 season improving to 1-2 on the young season. Wentworth dropped to 0-2 still looking for its first win of the year.
Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) and
Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) led the charge for Wilkes offensively combining for 17 of the 24 Lady Colonels goals. Held finished with ten tallies while Boccio followed with seven strikes.
Samantha Lawlor (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) also contributed four goals in the win while
Maura Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) added two assists.
Sarah Carlini (Collegeville, PA/Pope John Paul II) posted her first collegiate win in net for Wilkes finishing with seven saves.
Wilkes returns home to make its debut at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday hosting Gwynedd Mercy at 1:00 p.m.
