Boccio Scores Four Goals in Wilkes Women's Lacrosse 20-8 Loss at Misericordia
 
DALLAS, PA – Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) scored four of Wilkes' eight goals, but host Misericordia University saw three different players score four or more goals as the Cougars posted a 20-8 MAC Freedom victory over the Lady Colonels Tuesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
 
Wilkes slipped to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in MAC Freedom games after the loss while Misericordia improved to 8-2 on the year and a perfect 3-0 in league contests.
 
Misericordia scored the game's first eight goals and never looked back taking an 11-5 lead into the break. Boccio scored twice in a three minute span midway through the first half and Reilly Meanor (Etters, PA/Red Land), Callie Flowers (Lexington Park, MD/Leonardtown) and Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) scored three unanswered tallies to end the first frame for Wilkes trailing but just six.
 
Misericordia responded scoring the first six goals of the second half pushing the advantage to 16-5 with 23:13 left to play. Boccio and Held scored back-to-back for Wilkes over the next twelve minutes before another strike from Boccio ended Wilkes' scoring with :47 left to play.
 
Misericordia held a decisive 44-18 shot advantage while taking a 22-7 edge in draw controls.
 
Sarah Carlini (Collegeville, PA/Pope John Paul II) played 39:03 in the start in net for Wilkes making 12 saves while Melania Velasquez (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) entered in relief playing the final 20:57 finishing with four stops.
 
Wilkes returns to MAC Freedom play next Tuesday hosting DeSales University at 4:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
