Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Drops 16-4 MAC Freedom Contest at Eastern
ST. DAVIDS, PA – Host Eastern University outscored Wilkes University 12-2 in the first half on way to a 16-4 MAC Freedom victory Tuesday afternoon at Olson Field.
Wilkes slipped to 4-9 overall and 0-6 in MAC Freedom games while Eastern improved to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in league contests.
Wilkes kept things close with two goals from
Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) in the first 11 minutes of the first half as the Lady Colonels trailed 3-2 with 19:36 left in the half. From there Eastern rallied for nine straight goals to take a commanding 12-2 advantage to the break.
The second half saw less scoring overall as both teams played most of the frame in the midfield. Held added her third strike of the game at the 13:21 mark before
Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) notched her 40
th goal of the season with 10:42 left to play to round out Wilkes scoring.
Sarah Carlini (Collegeville, PA/Pope John Paul II) played all but 3:12 in net for Wilkes finishing with 12 saves. Eastern held a 34-20 shot advantage while controlling 15 of the 21 draw controls in the contest.
Wilkes concludes its non-conference schedule on Thursday traveling to Centenary College for a contest at 4:00 p.m.
