Eastern Posts 16-3 Win Over Wilkes Men's Lacrosse
 
EDWARDSVILLE – Visiting Eastern University raced out to a 9-0 halftime lead on way to a 16-3 MAC Freedom victory over Wilkes University Wednesday night at Schmidt Stadium.
 
Wilkes dropped to 4-10 overall and 1-5 in MAC Freedom games. Eastern improved to 10-6 overall and 5-1 in league contests.
 
Eastern scored the game's first 14 goals before John Wink (Glenside, Pa./Abington) put Wilkes on the board with a goal at the 8:41 mark of the fourth quarter. Forty-seven seconds later Wink scored again this time off an assist from Connor Daly (Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Twp.).
 
Matt LaSorsa (Copiague, N.Y./Copiague) netted the Colonels final goal of the game scoring man-up off a helper from Nicholas Ruggiero (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) with 5:12 remaining in the game.
 
Eastern held a 48-21 shot advantage while capturing 48 ground balls to Wilkes' 29. The Colonels finished 13-of-23 from the face-off circle thanks to a 12-for-19 performance from Evan Stolicker (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W. Baker).
 
Cody Geidel (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) started in goal for Wilkes finishing with nine saves while Carter Whittemore (Rochester, NY/West Irondequoit) entered in relief making six saves.
 
Wilkes concludes its season Friday night hosting MAC Freedom foe FDU-Florham at 7:00 p.m. on Senior Night at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
