EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University field hockey team fell by a 4-1 final to Alvernia University at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Colonels are now 2-4 this season.

The Golden Wolves got the scoring started in the 11^th minute.

Junior Haley Gayoski (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) tied the score at one in the 23^rd minute when senior Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) played the ball toward the circle allowing Gayoski to line a backhanded shot past Alvernia's goalkeeper.

The Golden Wolves took control of the game with three unanswered goals in the 30^th, 49^th, and 50^th minutes.

Junior Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) made 11 saves for Wilkes.

The Lady Colonels return to play on Tuesday when they host Moravian College for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game.
