Huff's Overtime Winner Gives Wilkes Men's Soccer 1-0 Victory over Susquehanna
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's soccer team defeated Susquehanna University by a 1-0 final on a goal in the third minute of overtime from junior
Camry Huff (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro).
The Colonels are now 3-4-0 on the season.
The two teams played to a stalemate through the first 45, entering halftime in a tie at zero.
The second half of play was much the same as the two teams entered the first extra period with no score.
In the 93
rd minute, the Colonels were awarded a throw in to be taken by senior
Tyler Kukosky (Sweet Valley, PA/Holy Redeemer). Kukosky launched his throw from the right side into the box, where it bounced around before Huff settled it and put it past the River Hawks goalkeeper to send Wilkes into a frenzy and home with a win.
Junior goalkeeper
Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) made five saves to earn his second shutout of the season, repeatedly coming up with big plays to keep the Colonels in the contest.
Wilkes returns to the pitch on Saturday when it will host Stevenson University for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference matchup.
