Huff Continues Roll as Wilkes Men's Soccer Defeats Stevenson 3-0
EDWARDSVILLE – Junior
Camry Huff (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) continued his hot start to the season, playing a part in all three scores as the Wilkes University men's soccer team took down Stevenson University by a 3-0 final at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Colonels improved to 4-4-0 with the win.
Wilkes was aided in the 16
th minute when the Mustangs put the ball into their own net. After racing back to stop a Stevenson breakaway, senior
Casey Ritsick (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) played a through ball up the right sideline to Huff, who played it into the box and off of a Mustang defender who put it past his own keeper to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead.
Huff netted his first goal of the contest in the 26
th minute when Ritsick chipped the ball in from midfield and Huff was able to take one touch and put it in the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.
Huff finished the scoring in the 87
th minute, taking advantage of a breakdown in Stevenson's defense that allowed the junior to have the entire field on a breakaway and put it in the bottom right corner past the keeper.
Junior goalkeeper
Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) notched his second consecutive clean sheet and third of the season, stopping all six shots.
Wilkes returns to action on Wednesday when it will travel to the University of Scranton for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game.
