Wilkes Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Road Contest to Susquehanna
SELINSGROVE, PA – The Wilkes University women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday night when they dropped a 1-0 decision to Susquehanna University on the road. The River Hawks are regionally ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Mid-Atlantic Poll and are receiving votes in the D3soccer.com Top 25 Poll.
Wilkes fell to 4-1-1 overall and Susquehanna improved to 7-0-1.
The Lady Colonels and the River Hawks both registered six shot attempts in the battle of previously unbeaten teams. Susquehanna held a 4-1 shots on goal advantage but Wilkes had a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
The game's lone goal came at the 5:12 mark when Alyssa Bolger converted on a header.
Delfina Bracchi (Central Islip, NY/Central Islip) registered the shot on goal for Wilkes in the 33
rd minute.
Courtney Stanley (Yardville, NJ/Steinert) made two saves and the Lady Colonels were credited with one team save.
Wilkes returns to Schmidt Stadium on Saturday, September 23 to take on Arcadia University at 1:00 p.m. Arcadia is ranked No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches Mid-Atlantic Poll and is receiving votes in both the United Soccer Coaches National Poll and the D3soccer.com Poll.
