Wilkes Women's Volleyball Concludes Puerto Rico Classic with Two Defeats
SAN JUAN, P.R. – The Wilkes University women's volleyball team concluded play at the Puerto Rico Classic on Sunday night. The Lady Colonels fell 3-1 against Wesley before dropping a 3-0 decision to Simpson College.
Wilkes falls to 0-4 overall on the season following the two-day event.
Wesley took the first match of the day by scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-15.
Jamey Mikovich (Nesquehoning, PA/Panther Valley) topped the Lady Colonel hitters with nine kills and ten digs.
Grace Boyle (Andreas, PA/Marion Catholic) followed with eight kills and eight digs while
Madison Scarfaro (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) finished with seven kills and seven digs.
Alexis Morgan (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) paced the passing game with 25 assists while adding three service aces and nine digs.
Simpson took the second match of the day sweeping Wilkes by scores of 26-24, 25-12 and 25-9. Mikovch again led the Wilkes attackers with seven kills, two block assists and 14 digs.
After returning home, Wilkes travels to Clarks Summit Thursday for a non-league match starting at 7:00 p.m.
