Second Half Outburst Leads FDU-Florham Past Wilkes Field Hockey 3-2
MADISON, N.J. – FDU-Florham scored three unanswered goals in the second half to defeat the Wilkes University field hockey team 3-2 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom action on Saturday morning.
The Lady Colonels are now 0-2 in MAC Freedom play and 3-7 overall.
Wilkes got on the board in the eighth minute when senior
Marissa Surdy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) put a reverse shot past the Devils keeper.
The Lady Colonels extended their lead to 2-0 in the 40
th minute when junior
Haley Gayoski (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) took a pass off of corner from junior
Megan Kane (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West) and found the back of the cage.
FDU-Florham scored goals in the 43
rd, 45
th, and 55
th minutes to take the lead.
Wilkes outshot the Devils 3-0 over the final four minutes of the contest but was unable to find the cage and send the match to overtime.
Junior
Dallas Kendra (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) put forth another excellent effort in the circle making 12 saves.
The Lady Colonels return to action on Wednesday when they will host Elizabethtown College for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference contest at Schmidt Stadium.
