Bentz Overtime Goal Lifts Wilkes Men's Soccer to 1-0 Victory Over Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, PA – Wilkes University's Kyle Bentz (Camp Hill, PA/Camp Hill) headed home a Camry Huff (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) corner kick just under four minutes into the first overtime to lift the visiting Colonels to a 1-0 victory over Lancaster Bible College Wednesday night at DH Funk Field.

With the win Wilkes improved to 6-3-1 overall while Lancaster Bible dropped to 4-5-1 overall after the home defeat.

Wilkes tilted the field in its favor throughout most of the first and second halves of play outshooting the hosts 18-9 in the contest. The Colonels also held an 8-5 advantage in corner kick attempts with five coming in the second half.

As overtime started Wilkes continued to put pressure on the Lancaster Bible defense on way to earning its final corner kick of the match. Huff took the attempt sending a ball into the box where Bentz used his head to put home the game-winner. It marked the third time the duo has connected for a goal this season as Bentz notched his fifth strike of the year and Huff his sixth helper.

Tim Gallagher (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) played the whole match in net for the Colonels making two saves to record his sixth win and third shutout of the season.

Wilkes returns to MAC Freedom play Saturday hosting DeSales University at 7:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium on Homecoming.
