Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Shutout by Chatham
PITTSBURGH, PA – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team fell on the road to Chatham University 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars scored a pair of goals in each of the first two periods to send the Colonels home with a loss.
The defeat drops Wilkes to 0-6 on the season while Chatham improves to 2-5.
The Cougars scored their first goal of the contest at the 8:36 mark of the opening period to take a 1-0 lead. They would add another at the 16:49 mark to head into the first intermission with a two-goal advantage.
Chatham would score at the 8:36 mark again in the second period before picking up another at the 14:27 mark to stretch their lead to 4-0 after two periods.
After Wilkes was unable to capitalize on an early third period power play, Chatham would score with the man advantage at the 11:25 mark for their final goal of the afternoon.
Goaltender Ally Joly (Lincoln, RI/) played all 60 minutes and made 40 saves for the Colonels.
Wilkes returns to action on Friday, November 30th when it welcomes SUNY Canton to the Toyota Sportsplex for a 5:00 p.m. puck drop.
