Colonels Notebook
• The Colonels wrestle at the McDaniel Duals hosted by McDaniel College Saturday, December 1 where they will face three teams starting with a match against Ferrum College (3-1) at 12:00 p.m. Then Wilkes faces Southern Virginia University (1-6) and the hosts McDaniel College (3-0).
 
• Wilkes went 4-0 in its first dual matches of the 2018-19 season at the Southeast Duals last time on the mat on Saturday, November 17.
 
• The Colonels had nine grapplers go at least 2-0 during the Southeast Duals including Nicholas Racanelli (West Creek, NJ/Southern Regional) and Ashton Gyenizs (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) at 4-0.
 
• Racanelli placed second at 165-pounds at the Ned McGinley Invitational to open the 2018-19 season. Thomas Stokes (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) placed third at 141-pounds and Gyenizs placed fourth at 174-pounds. Wilkes finished fifth of 16 teams.
 
• Nicholas Bauer (Coplay, PA/Wyoming Seminary) won the 125-pound title and Jessie Lopez (Everett, WA/Everett) captured the 141-pound championship at the Gettysburg Invitational. Racanelli also wrestled his way to the 165-pound title. Kyle Medrow (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson), Gyenizs and Moustafa Almeky (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) placed second while Dylan O'Connor (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr), Joshua Brown (Plains, PA/Coughlin) and John Ritter (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) placed third. Wilkes finished second overall out of six teams.
 
• Racanelli is ranked at No. 8 in the 165-pound weight class of the latest NWCA Individual Rankings.
 
• The Colonels 2018-19 roster goes 35 deep with a class breakdown of: 4 seniors; 7 juniors; 8 sophomores; and 16 freshmen.
 
• The roster features athletes from nine states: Pennsylvania - 19; New Jersey - 7; Virginia - 2; Connecticut - 2; California - 1; New York - 1; Delaware - 1; Maryland - 1; Washington – 1
