Held Powers Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Past Cazenovia 19-11
 
EDWARDSVILLE – Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) scored five goals and added two assists to lead four players with four or more points as host Wilkes University posted a 19-11 victory over Cazenovia College Tuesday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
 
Wilkes ends its four-game losing skid improving to 2-5 overall on the season. Cazenovia suffered its first defeat of the year standing 1-1.
 
Cazenovia took the lead just 40 seconds into the game when Breana Howe scored on a free position from eight feet away. Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) tied the game four minutes later when she notched her 20th goal of the season weaving through the defense from the left side before shooting past the goalie to the top left corner of the cage.
 
Boccio gave Wilkes its first lead of the game at the 21:15 mark of the first half taking a ground ball from the top of the circle and running around defenders before beating the goalie low. Sierra Duman (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna) pushed the advantage to 3-1 one minute later scoring on a free position attempt. Duman quickly added her second of the game off a pass from Boccio as the lead grew to 4-1 with 20:18 left in the half.
 
Ashley Burkhardt (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) made it five straight goals scoring off an assist from Held causing Cazenovia to call a timeout. After a Cazenovia goal stopped the rally, Burkhardt added her second goal of the game off another helper from Boccio to give Wilkes a 6-2 advantage with 13:45 remaining in the half.
 
Held scored her first of the game at 9:02 before Boccio picked up her second yellow card and was hit with a red card and game misconducted on the way off the field. Wilkes played down two and Cazenovia took advantage scoring with 6:32 left in the half to cut into the lead at 7-3.
 
Burkhardt completed her hat trick with 4:11 left in the half to extend the Wilkes lead to 8-3. Duman finished off her hat trick in between two Cazenovia goals then added her fourth of the game two minutes later as Wilkes took an 11-5 lead into the break. Delaney Lukowski (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse Academy) finished off the Wilkes scoring notching her first career goal.
 
Held got the scoring going for Wilkes to start the second half tallying her second strike of the game with 26:38 remaining. After a Cazenovia goal, Held answered back with two straight strikes to up the advantage to eight as Wilkes led 14-6 with 21:59 left.
 
Cazenovia added another goal to stop the Held rally before Wilkes put the game out of reach using five consecutive goals over a nine minutes span to take its largest lead up 19-7 with 11:10 left to play.

Duman followed Held with a season-high five goals while Boccio added two goals and three assists. Burkhardt finished with four goals.
 
Sarah Carlini (Collegeville, PA/Pope John Paul II) earned the win in net for Wilkes finishing with 13 saves in 55:38.
 
Wilkes gets back into action Thursday with a road game at Centenary College at 4:00 p.m.
