Held, Boccio, and Duman Combine for 18 Goals in Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Victory

LANCASTER, Pa. – The trio of Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) (nine), Kyra Boccio (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) (five), and Sierra Duman (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna) (four) combined to score 18 of 20 goals for the Wilkes University women's lacrosse team in its 20-16 win over Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Colonels improved to 3-6 on the season with the victory.

Lancaster Bible recorded the first three goals before Duman broke through with just over 22 minutes remaining.

After the Chargers added a fourth goal, Wilkes went on a four-goal streak (two from Boccio, on each from Held and Duman) to take a 5-4 lead with just under 17 minutes left in the first half.

Lancaster Bible tied the score with 16:30 on the clock but Held and Boccio scored unassisted to retake the lead at 7-5 with 14:44 showing on the clock.

The Chargers reeled of three straight scores to retake the lead at 8-7 with under six minutes left before Duman tied the score with an unassisted notch at 4:21. The Chargers finished the half with four goals to enter halftime up 12-8.

Held opened the scoring with an unassisted goal just 11 seconds in but both teams traded scores until Wilkes orchestrated a 4-0 run to tie the score at 14 with 13:30 remaining.

Lancaster Bible retook the lead with two goals but the Lady Colonels would not be denied as they finished the game with a 6-0 run over the final 9:49 highlighted by three goals from Held to emerge victorious.

Melania Velasquez (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) made five saves in the second half to earn her first career victory in goal.

The Lady Colonels return to action next Saturday when they open Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action at FDU-Florham.
