Clymer and Pronti Tally Two Hits in Wilkes Baseball's First Loss

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Jarret Clymer (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) and Nick Pronti (Wood-Ridge, NJ/Wood-Ridge) tallied two hits apiece but the Wilkes University baseball team suffered its first loss of the 2018 season in an 11-1 loss to Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday afternoon.

The Colonels are now 3-1 on the season.

Penn State took the lead for good in the bottom of the second on a three-run homer.

Wilkes got on the board in the top of the fourth when Clymer singled home Joe Champi (Dupont, PA/Pittston) after Champi doubled and moved to third on a groundout.

The Nittany Lions added runs in the fourth, fifth, seventh, and eighth en route to the victory.

Kyle Pokrinchak (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke ) made his first career start on the mound for the Colonels, going the first six innings and surrendering six runs (three earned) on eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Andrew Indzonka (New Windsor, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) and Matt Maranca (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) tossed the final two innings.

Clymer and Pronti each finished 2-for-4 with Clymer adding the lone RBI.

Wilkes returns to the field tomorrow when it faces Penn College for a 6:30 p.m. non-conference game.
