Box Score Wilkes Women's Volleyball Sweeps Penn State Hazleton to Open 2018 Season
HAZLETON, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's volleyball team opened the 2018 season with a strong showing, sweeping Penn State Hazleton 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-22) on Friday evening.
The Colonels improved to 1-0 on the season.
Christie Challenger (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Blue Mountain) led the offense with nine kills, matching her career high.
Laura Booths (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Wayne) also finished with nine in her first collegiate match, while
Amy Hadesty (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua Area) opened her Colonels career with six kills.
Katie Evans (Berwick, PA/Berwick) led the back line with nine digs in her first appearance in the Navy and Gold, while
Erin Silverman (Cooper City, FL/Cooper City) and
Sierra Smith (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) opened their careers with seven digs apiece. Silverman added 30 assists to lead the way. Smith led the team in aces with four.
Wilkes returns to the floor tomorrow when it heads to Lycoming for three matches.
