Wilkes Women's Cross Country Continues Season at Cougar Classic
DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University women's cross country team placed fourth of four teams at the Cougar Classic hosted by Misericordia University Saturday morning.
The Colonels totaled 117 points as Misericordia took the team title with 20 points on the 6k course. A total of 54 runners took part in the race which included a 12-person alumni team that did not count toward the final collegiate team standings.
Autumn Pedron (Pottsville, PA/Minersville) ran a season best time with a 27:13.30 to finish 21
st overall.
Sara Ross (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) (28
th, 28:21.80) and
Caroline Rickard (Orwigsburg, PA/Blue Mountain) (33
rd, 28:53.30) were the next two finishers for Wilkes.
Mia Walker (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional) ran 29:03.00 to set her career best time in 34
th place.
Kyleigh Smeltzer (Manchester, PA/Northeastern) rounded out the Wilkes scoring runners in 39
th with a time of 29:50.70.
Kaitlin Sutton (Shavertown, PA/Lake Lehman) (41
st, 30:25.70) and
Arianna Ryan (Brockton, PA/Tamaqua) (49
th, 32:18.60) rounded out the Colonels at the Cougar Classic.
Next up for Wilkes is the Knight Invite when the Colonels travel to Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y. in two weeks on Saturday, September 29.
