Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Concludes New York State Road Trip with Loss
GENEVA, N.Y. – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team traveled to face William Smith in their second United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game of the young season.
The Colonels (0-2-0, 0-2-0 UCHC) struggled to muster much offense against the Herons (5-0-0, 2-0-0 UCHC), managing a lone goal in the second period before falling 4-1.
The Herons put up a 2-0 advantage with an early goal in the first period and in the second period before freshman forward
Andrea Delvecchio (Orange, CT) put home an unassisted goal over halfway through the second frame. The Herons answered with a pair of Julia Mings power play goals in the late second and early third periods respectively to put the game out of reach of the Colonels.
The Colonels were 0-for-6 on power plays, while the Herons went 2-for-6. The Herons also outshot the Colonels on power plays 17 to 6, and overall 45 to 16. Sophomore goaltender
Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) recorded 41 saves in a losing effort, while the Herons' goalkeeper Olivia Williams had 15 saves for a victory. Sophomore forward

The Colonels return home for a pair of UCHC conference games next weekend. They play host to Nazareth College and Utica College on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 at the Toyota SportsPlex. Both games start at 3:30 p.m.
