Wilkes Men's Basketball Downs Clarks Summit
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University Colonels played host to Clarks Summit Saturday afternoon as they celebrated senior guards
Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) and
Mark Mullins' (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) breaking the 1000 point barrier last weekend against Montclair State.
The Colonels (5-1) assumed control of the game early and never looked back as they downed the Defenders (0-6) in convincing fashion 105-63.
The Defenders would hang around for the first six minutes of play and trailed the Colonels 13-9 before the Colonels broke the game open with a 10-0 run that ensured the Defenders wouldn't shave the lead down to single digits for the rest of the game. They built their lead up to 58-26 heading into the locker room.
The Colonels would mostly nurse this lead throughout the second half and tacked on enough points to lead by as many as 42 during multiple points in the half on their way to a 105-63 victory.
Four Colonels scored in the double-digits for the evening, with three others hitting nine points each. Mullins led all Colonels with 9 rebounds, while Pecorelli lead the Colonels with 24 points and four assists on the evening.
The Colonels return to the court Wednesday, December 4 as they travel to Scranton, Pa. to face Marywood University. The Colonels are 7-3 in the series against Marywood since 2010, and won last year's matchup at the Cross County Challenge 74-70.
