Wilkes Wrestling Goes 1-3 at Scotty Wood Duals
ALLENTOWN, PA – The Wilkes University wrestling team finished 1-3 at the Scotty Woods Duals hosted by Muhlenberg College Saturday afternoon. The Colonels recorded their lone win against Kent State at Tuscarawas 54-6 before falling to Central College 32-12, Gettysburg College 25-22 and host Muhlenberg 42-9.
Wilkes stands 4-4 overall in dual meets following the four-match event.
In the win against Kent State, Wilkes earned extra points in all nine of its victories including five falls.
Brock Horton (Towanda, PA/Athens) pinned his opponent in 3:49 at 133-pounds to start the extra point scoring after
Nicholas Bauer (Coplay, PA/Wyoming Seminary) picked up a forfeit at 125-pounds.
Dylan O'Connor (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) continued the falls with a pin in 1:11 at 141 before another forfeit by Kent State at 149 pushed the Wilkes lead to 24-0.
Kyle Tino (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) earned a fall in 2:00 at 157 followed by the Colonels fourth pin at 165 for
Allen Kokilananda (Annandale, VA/Annandale) (1:42). After
John Devito (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) was awarded a forfeit at 174,
Moustafa Almeky (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) won by medical forfeit at 197 after leading 2-0 in the first period and
Austin Cominsky (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Township) rounded out the scoring with a fall at 285 in 1:51.
Wilkes scored three wins in the loss against Central. N. Bauer began the match with a 9-2 decision win over Anthony Posas at 125.
Liam Flaherty (Needmore, PA/Southern Fulton) took his bout at 157 by major decision 13-2 over Matt Pool.
John Devito (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) earned his second win of the day with a 20-4 technical fall over Andrew McCracken.
In the match against Gettysburg, the Colonels four wins all came with extra points as N.Bauer won by default, Devito by major decision 15-6 and Almeky and Cominsky by fall in 4:45 and 2:03 respectively.
N. Bauer and Horton were the two Wilkes winners against host Muhlenberg as Bauer won by forfeit and Horton by a 5-2 decision.
Wilkes remains idle through the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to the mat December 6 and 7 competing at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational.
