Colonels Notebook
• The Wilkes University wrestling team will host the 2019 Cross County Challenge on Saturday at the Marts Center. A dual match between the University of Scranton and King's College will start the day at 11:00 a.m. Then the Colonels will wrestle their final dual match of the season against Scranton (10-7) at 12:30 p.m. Wilkes will then send 16 grapplers to participate in the Futures Mid East Tournament on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in Allentown, Pa. at Muhlenberg College.

• The Colonels saw their eight-match win streak end this past Friday with a 35-11 defeat at No. 6 Ithaca. Wilkes responded by defeating cross-town rival King's 43-9 on Sunday.
Kyle Medrow (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson) was named the MAC Wrestler of the Week after picking up a technical fall win against Ithaca and a pin against King's. It was the second time that the junior won the award in his career.

Nicholas Racanelli (West Creek, NJ/Southern Regional) placed second at 165-pounds at the Ned McGinley Invitational to open the 2018-19 season on November 3.
Thomas Stokes (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) placed third at 141-pounds and Wilkes finished fifth of 16 teams.

• Racanelli won the 165-pound title and
Nicholas Bauer (Coplay, PA/Wyoming Seminary) captured the 125-pound crown at the Gettysburg Invitational on November 10. Medrow,
Ashton Gyenizs (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) and
Moustafa Almeky (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) placed second while
Dylan O'Connor (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) and
John Ritter (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) placed third. Wilkes finished second out of six teams.

• Wilkes went 4-0 at the Southeast Duals on November 17 with Racanelli and Gyenizs going a perfect 4-0 on the day.

• Wilkes finished with a 2-1 record at the McDaniel Duals on December 1 as Stokes led the way with a 3-0 record.

• The Colonels defeated Elizabethtown on December 8 by a 24-10 margin.

• Wilkes went 3-1 at the North/South Duals on January 5 and were 1-1 against ranked opponents at the event as the Colonels knocked off No. 19 Stevens but fell to No. 25 Messiah.

• The Colonels went 4-1 at the Budd Whitehill Duals January 11th and 12th. During the event Wilkes defeated No. 21 Washington and Lee. Racanelli went 5-0, with his second victory earning him his 100th of his career. Stokes and Ritter also were a perfect 5-0 at the event.

• Wilkes went 3-0 hosting the John Reese Duals on January 27. Stokes and Gyenizs went 3-0 and both went over the 20-win mark for the season.

• The Colonels defeated Penn College 36-12 on February 1 during Senior Night to extend their season-long dual match win streak to eight.

• At 26-1, Racanelli is ranked at No. 3 in the 165-pound weight class of the January 30th edition of the NWCA Individual Rankings. He has been named the MAC Wrestler of the Week three times this season.

• Stokes is listed in the Honorable Mention category at 141-pounds of the February 5th edition of the d3wrestle.com Individual Rankings while Racanelli was ranked in the sixth spot at 165.
