• The Wilkes University wrestling team rides an eight-match win streak into a pair of road-dual matches this weekend. The Colonels will face its fourth ranked opponent of the season in No. 6 Ithaca College Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Ithaca, N.Y. Wilkes is 2-1 against ranked teams this year. The Colonels will close the weekend on Sunday at noon at cross-town rival King's College. The Colonels current eight-match win streak is the longest since the team won nine dual matches in a row during the 2015-16 season.
 
• The Colonels defeated Penn College 36-12 last Friday by taking the first seven bouts of the match. Patrick Miko (Derby, CT/Derby), Thomas Stokes (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), John Ritter (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), Ashton Gyenizs (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) and Nicholas Racanelli (West Creek, NJ/Southern Regional) were honored on Senior Night prior to the match.
 
• Racanelli placed second at 165-pounds at the Ned McGinley Invitational to open the 2018-19 season on November 3. Stokes placed third at 141-pounds and Gyenizs placed fourth at 174-pounds. Wilkes finished fifth of 16 teams.
 
Nicholas Bauer (Coplay, PA/Wyoming Seminary) captured the 125-pound crown and Racanelli wrestled his way to the 165-pound title at the Gettysburg Invitational on November 10. Kyle Medrow (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson), Gyenizs and Moustafa Almeky (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) placed second while Dylan O'Connor (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) and Ritter placed third in their respective weight classes. Wilkes finished second out of six teams.
 
• Wilkes went 4-0 at the Southeast Duals on November 17 with Racanelli and Gyenizs going a perfect 4-0 on the day.
 
• Wilkes finished with a 2-1 record at the McDaniel Duals on December 1 as Stokes led the way with a 3-0 record.
 
• The Colonels defeated Elizabethtown on December 8 by a 24-10 margin during a road dual match.
 
• Wilkes went 3-1 at the North/South Duals on January 5 and were 1-1 against ranked opponents at the event. The Colonels knocked off No. 19 Stevens and won five of 10 bouts against No. 25 Messiah but fell in the team score.
 
• The Colonels went 4-1 at the Budd Whitehill Duals January 11th and 12th. During the event Wilkes defeated No. 21 Washington and Lee. Racanelli went 5-0, with his second victory earning him his 100th of his career. Stokes and Ritter also were a perfect 5-0 at the event.
 
• Wilkes went 3-0 hosting the John Reese Duals on January 27. Stokes and Gyenizs each went 3-0 at the John Reese Duals and in doing so both reached the 20-win mark on the season.
 
• Racanelli is ranked at No. 3 in the 165-pound weight class of the January 30th edition of the NWCA Individual Rankings and has a 26-1 overall record this season. He has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference Wrestler of the Week three times this season.
 
• Stokes is listed in the Honorable Mention category at 141-pounds of the February 5th edition of the d3wrestle.com Individual Rankings while Racanelli was ranked in the sixth spot at 165-pounds.
 
• The Colonels first opponent boasts three grapplers ranked in the most recent NWCA Individual Rankings. Ithaca's Jake Ashcraft is No. 1 at 184, Ben Brisman is No. 2 at 141 and Jake O'Brien is No. 5 at 285.
