Wilkes Men's Tennis Knocks off Keystone 9-0
EDWARDSVILLE, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over the Keystone College Giants on Sunday at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
With the win, Wilkes improves to 9-5 on the season.
Doubles play started with a win by default in the #3 spot with a win being credited to Matt Angara (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) and Connor Murphy (Denver, PA/Cocalico ). The #2 pairing of Colin Greenman (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) and Alec Levin (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) then cruised to an 8-0 victory while #1 Andrew MacDonald (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Regional) and Mike Ellis (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) finished off the sweep of doubles with an 8-1 win.
The Colonels faced little adversity in singles play as they dropped just one game in five matches.
Another win by default in the #6 spot gave a win to Jack Maline (Northport, NY/Northport).
#3 Levin and #1 Ellis breezed to wins in their matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
After #2 Greenman won his match 6-1, 6-0, #4 MacDonald and #5 Murphy closed out the match with another pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Wilkes returns to the Ralston Athletic Complex on Wednesday, April 17th when it hosts Eastern for a 3:30 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom match.
