KINGSTON – Six errors leading to 10 unearned runs crossing the plate doomed the Wilkes University baseball team in its 13-5 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) loss against Delaware Valley University at Artillery Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The Colonels fell to 6-10 in conference and 12-17 overall.

The Aggies pushed across three runs in the top of the first with the aid of two Wilkes errors.

Wilkes got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Jack Fischer (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) doubled to left center, bringing in Brady Wing (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Delaware Valley added two more runs in the top of the sixth.

The Colonels cut the score to 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth when Matt Reinert (Telford, PA/Souderton) hit a sacrifice fly to right that scored Nicholas Capozzi (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) who led off the inning with a single.

The Aggies increased their lead with three runs in the top of the seventh on three hits and two more Wilkes errors.

Jack Hines (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne) made the score 8-4 with a two run single that allowed Capozzi and Alex Halladay (West Chester, PA/Bayard Rustin) to score in the bottom of the seventh.
