Box Score Wilkes Women's Volleyball Cruises Past Penn State Hazleton 3-0 in Season Opener
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory over visiting Penn State Hazleton in both squads season opening match Friday night at the Marts Center. The Colonels posted wins of 25-10, 25-9 and 25-10 to capture the match.
Wilkes improved to 1-0 on the year while Penn State Hazleton dropped to 0-1 on the young season.
Wilkes saw six players reach the kills column as
Emily Lass (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East),
Allison Murie (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and
Laura Booths (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Wayne) each finished with five kills to lead the group.
Jessica Salus (Shavertown, PA/Lake Lehman) added four kills and six service aces.
Olivia Marsh (East Hampton, CT/East Hampton) and
Kelsey Carroll (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) split the passing game with 14 and five assists respectively.
Jamey Mikovich (Nesquehoning, PA/Panther Valley) finished with six digs, reaching the 1,000-dig mark for her career in the process. Mikovich became the fifth Colonel in program history to reach the milestone.
Wilkes is back in action tomorrow traveling to Clarks Summit University for a quad match. The Colonels open with the hosts Clarks Summit at 9:00 a.m. before matches with Penn College at 12:00 p.m. and Lycoming College at 3:00 p.m.
