Scoring Barrage Lifts Wilkes Men's Soccer Over Clarks Summit 5-0

CLARKS SUMMIT, PA – Four different Colonels found the back of the net as visiting Wilkes University snapped a two-game losing skid on way to a 5-0 victory over host Clarks Summit University Wednesday afternoon at Defender Field.

With the win Wilkes improved to 2-2 on the season. Clarks Summit dropped to 1-4 overall following the home defeat. The win marked the Colonels' tenth in 11 contests against the Defenders dating back to the 2008 season.

Nicholas Gaydos (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) started the scoring midway through the first half kicking home a ball thrown in by Shane Henehan (Bensalem, PA/Mast Community Charter School) to give Wilkes a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute.

Jacob Bausher (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg Area) extended the advantage right before the half ended when he scored off assists from Danny McGinley (Brodheadsville, PA/Pleasant Valley) and Matthew Horwedel (Delanson, NY/Schalmont Senior) to put the Colonels ahead 2-0 at the break.

Andrew Reichard (Easton, PA/Easton Area) continued the scoring output to start the second half scoring unassisted in the 50th minute to push the advantage to 3-0. After an own goal put the Colonels ahead 4-0 in the 71st minute, Christopher Garcia (Teaneck, NJ/Bergen Charter) rounded out the offensive onslaught with his first collegiate tally off a helper from Lucas Snedeker (Scott Township, PA/Lakeland) in the 83rd minute.

Wilkes held a 12-6 shot advantage while garnering two corner kicks. Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area) finished with one save recording the victory in net for the Colonels.

Wilkes is back in action Saturday with a road contest at Haverford College starting at 2:30 p.m.
