Susquehanna Defeats Wilkes Women's Soccer 3-0

SELINSGROVE, PA – Host Susquehanna University defeated the Wilkes University women's soccer team 3-0 Wednesday night at Sassafras Field in non-conference action.

Wilkes dropped to 2-2-1 with the loss while Susquehanna improved to 4-2-0.

The River Hawks scored goals in the 18th, 55th, and 88th minutes.

The Colonels first chance came in the 26th minute when they earned a corner kick and their first shot came by Kiana Jedlicka (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) in the 34th minute but it was saved by Madi Welliver.

The Colonels managed four shots in the second half but were unable to find the goal. Emily Wirth (Vestal, NY/Vestal) and Alyssa Keister (Middleburg, PA/Midd-West) each had their attempts to put Wilkes on the scoreboard saved.

Welliver finished with three saves in the victory while Samantha Cecere (Batavia, NY/Batavia) stopped four shots in 80 minutes of action for the Colonels. Mikayla Ronczka (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) played the final 10 minutes in goal. Susquehanna held a 12-7 advantage in shots and 7-3 in shots-on-goal and well as 6-3 in corner kicks for the game.

The tough non-conference competition continues for Wilkes on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. when the Colonels host No. 19 Arcadia University at Schmidt Stadium.
