Wilkes Women's Soccer Falls to No. 19 Arcadia in Home Showdown
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University Colonels hosted No. 19 Arcadia University at Schmidt Stadium Saturday afternoon for a showdown with the nationally-ranked Knights.
The Colonels (2-3-1) struggled to muster much offense as they fell 3-0 to the Knights (8-0-1) and their second-half offensive barrage.
The Colonels kept pace with Arcadia throughout the first half, heading into the locker room after 45 minutes with a 0-0 draw. Arcadia found the net early in the second half though, as they put home a chip shot in the box at the 48
th minute to draw first blood. Arcadia later took advantage of one of their 13 corner kicks on the afternoon in the 66
th minute to extend their lead to 2-0.
Arcadia netted another goal with a cluster of Knights in front of the goal in the 88
th minute to punctuate the afternoon's proceedings.
Senior goalkeeper
Samantha Cecere (Batavia, NY/Batavia) had three saves on the afternoon. The Colonels had two shots as a team.
The Colonels look to bounce back Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. with another non-conference home tilt at Schmidt Stadium against Scranton.
