Wilkes Men's Soccer Settles for Draw with Keystone

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's soccer team scored midway through the second half only to see the visiting Giants of Keystone College find the equalizer in the 81st minute as the two teams settled for a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.

Wilkes moves to 3-2-2 overall following the draw while Keystone stands at 5-2-1 overall after the contest.

After the teams went scoreless over the first 45 minutes, Jeffrey Eager-Heffner (Blandon, PA/Fleetwood Area) took a cross from Jacob Bausher (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg Area) kicking in the ball from the right corner to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead with 65:06 on the clock.

Keystone answered in the 81st minute when Willy Nduwayo broke free through the middle dribbling 15 yards before finding the back of the net past Colonels keeper Russell Rauh (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington Senior).

Neither team could find the game-winner through the two overtime periods as Keystone held a slight 7-4 advantage in shots through the final 20 minutes of extra soccer.

Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area) started in net for Wilkes and finished with four saves through 48:22 scoreless minutes. Rauh posted three saves in relief.

Wilkes returns to the pitch Wednesday with a non-conference match at the University of Scranton at 4:00 p.m.
