Bentz Late Goal Leads Wilkes Men's Soccer in Comeback at Scranton
SCRANTON, Pa. – Kyle Bentz's (Camp Hill, PA/Camp Hill) 81st minute strike broke a 2-2 tie and helped the Wilkes University men's soccer team to a 3-2 comeback victory at the University of Scranton on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference play.
The Colonels improved to 4-2-2 with the victory.
Scranton started the scoring with a tally in the 15th minute, but Seth Fowler (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon) tied the score in the 25th minute with an assist from Bentz.
Wilkes took its first lead in the 41st minute when Cameron Fiester (Muncy Valley, PA/Sullivan County) assisted on Marc Kyriakidis' (Sleepy Hollow, NY/Plesantville) first collegiate goal.
The Royals tied the score in the 67th minute, however, Bentz found the back of the net with the game winner off a double assist from Anthony Lazzareschi (Cranston, RI/Bishop Hendricken) and Gabriel Nieves (Yorktown Heights, NY/Lakeland Senior).
Russell Rauh (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington Senior) made five saves before being replaced by Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area), who earned the win while making one save.
The Colonels return to action on Saturday when they travel to Immaculata University for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game.
