Wilkes Women's Volleyball Falls 3-1 in Opening Match of Quad

DOVER, DE - The Wilkes University women's volleyball squad opened their weekend matches in Dover, Del. against host Wesley Friday night.
The Colonels (8-8) fell to Wesley (8-8) in an 18-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-27 battle to start the weekend. The Colonels are now 2-3 against Wesley since the 2011 season.
Jamey Mikovich (Nesquehoning, PA/Panther Valley) led Wilkes with a season-high 20 kills while adding 13 digs and three blocks.
Julie Murphy (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) finished with a career-high 30 digs while
Karlye Huffman (Sugar Run, PA/Wyalusing) also had a career-high with 15 digs and added 30 assists.
The Colonels look to bounce back with a pair of matches tomorrow in Dover, Del. They play Farmingdale State at 10:00 a.m., and conclude the quad with a 12:00 p.m. match against John Jay. The Colonels are 1-0 against Farmingdale since the 2013 season, while this is the first time in recent history the Colonels have met John Jay.
