Wilkes Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime at Moravian
BETHLEHEM, PA – Moravian's Anthony Nagy found the back of the net 4:58 into overtime to lift the host Greyhounds to a 2-1 victory over Wilkes University Saturday afternoon at John Makuvek Field.
Wilkes dropped its second straight game in overtime moving to 1-2 on the season. Moravian remained unbeaten at 4-0 on the year.
Seth Fowler (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon) put the Colonels on the board at the 33:01 mark when his long shot from 25-yards out sailed over the keeper. Wilkes held onto the one goal lead into the halftime break.
Moravian answered in the 73
rd minute when Andrew Goodolf scored from 16-yards out tying the game. The teams went scoreless the rest of the second half sending the contest into overtime.
From there it was a Wilkes foul that setup the free kick for Nagy that clinched the win for the hosts.
Moravian held a 21-12 shot advantage while the Greyhounds garnered seven corner kicks to the Colonels four attempts.
Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area) finished with six saves in his collegiate debut in net for Wilkes.
The Colonels are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Clarks Summit University for a match at 4:00 p.m.
