Sheaffer and Tubbs Light the Lamp for Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey at Lebanon Valley
HERSHEY, Pa. – Erica Sheaffer (New Hartford, NY) and Shauna Tubbs (Maumee, OH) were able to light the lamp, but the Wilkes University women's ice hockey team fell by a 4-2 final at Lebanon Valley College in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) action on Friday evening.
The Colonels are now 1-9-0 after the contest.
Madison Humes opened the scoring for the Dutchmen at 8:01 of the first with assists from Peyton Nagy and Chloe Glass. Olivia Cindrich doubled Wilkes' deficit with an unassisted tally 31 seconds in the second period.
Sheaffer got the Colonels on the board at 12:52 of the second with an unassisted score to cut the score to 2-1.
Lebanon Valley added back-to-back scores at 7:56 and 11:33 of the third before Tubbs beat the Dutchmen's goaltender with a power-play tally at 15:02 with an assist from Julie Patterson (Trenton, NJ).
Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) made 17 saves on 21 shots in the crease for Wilkes. Shelby Guinard stopped 23-of-25 shots for Lebanon Valley.
Laurenne Fraser (Salt Lake City, UT) led the Colonels on faceoffs, winning 8-of-14 chances.
Wilkes returns to the ice tomorrow when it will host King's College for a 3:30 p.m. United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game at the Toyota SportsPlex.
