Wilkes Basketball Set to Host DeSales in MAC Freedom Showdown Wednesday
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams are set to host Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) foe DeSales at the Marts Center Wednesday. The men's game is slated to tip-off at 6:00 p.m. with the women's game to follow at 8:00 p.m.

Men's Preview:
The Colonels and the Bulldogs are meeting for the first time since their MAC Championship match in Center Valley, Pa., where DeSales emerged victorious with a 78-66 victory for the championship. The Colonels sit at 1-1 in conference play and 8-5 overall after defeating Stevens last Saturday.
Junior forward
Derek Heiserman (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) has stepped up lately for the Colonels. He posted career-highs three times in the last two games, with 14 points against Stevens as well as 12 rebounds and three blocks at Misericordia. Several Colonels have posted efficient shooting percentages. Sophomore forward

Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) has found multiple ways to keep the Colonels offense humming, sitting at an average of 4.6 assists (2nd) this season. He has also played 34.1 minutes per game this season (4th).
The Colonels continue to top the conference in scoring with an average of 80.7 ppg. They also lead the league in free throw shooting with an average of .732 from the line, in average rebounds with 41.1, and in steals with 7.92.
DeSales sits atop the conference alone with a 2-0 record in the MAC Freedom and 9-4 overall. Several Bulldogs top the charts in the MAC Freedom in terms of shooting percentage. Senior forward Kweku Dawson-Amoah shoots .650 from the field (1st) while junior forward Timmy Edwards has had a .611 percentage on the season (2nd). Junior guard Mike Bealer leads the league in three-point percentage with a .463 percentage beyond the arc.
Junior guard Matt Kachelries has helped fuel the Bulldogs efficient offense with 4.8 assists-per-game (1st), while Keba Mitchell has been a force on defense with an average of 1.8 blocks (2nd). Five Bulldogs have averaged nine or more ppg on the season, while five Bulldogs have averaged 4.4 or more rebounds per game.
The Bulldogs top the MAC Freedom with a .483 shooting percentage as a team. They lead the series against the Colonels 16-7 since the live stats era.
Women's Preview:
The Colonels are looking for their first MAC Freedom win of the season after falling short against Misericordia and Stevens this past week. The Colonels sit at 0-2 in the conference and 6-7 overall as they look to take on the Bulldogs at home.

Macy Berryman (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain East) has continued her strong play, posting 15 points against Stevens Saturday. She leads the squad with a .338 shooting percentage and has the second most average points with 6.9. Junior guard
Maddie Kelley (Dallas, PA/Dallas) has averaged 7.3 ppg and 5.3 rebounds on average, topping the Colonels charts in both categories.
The Colonels sit at second in the MAC Freedom with a .339 shooting percentage on defense and third in defending the three-point arc with .276.
The Bulldogs have split their first two games in conference, dominating FDU-Florham 88-44 before falling just shy at King's 54-55. They have a scoring margin average of 12.0 on the season thus far as they sit at 9-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference. DeSales is receiving votes in both the WBCA and d3hoops.com polls this week after falling out of the the Top 25.
Senior forward Molly Jansco has shot .433 from the field this season (5th). Sophomore forward Averi Jordan has averaged 15.3 ppg (7th) and 7.6 rebounds on average (7th). Sophomore guard Samantha Shinkus has proven to be effective as well, averaging 3.5 assists (5th) and sitting at second on the team with 11.8 ppg.
