Late Goal Paces Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey in 1-1 Tie Against Chatham
 
WILKES-BARRE – Kendall Castro (Killingworth, CT) scored with just under five minutes left to play in the third period to tie the game at one as the Wilkes women's ice hockey team settled for a draw against visiting Chatham University in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest Saturday afternoon at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
 
Wilkes moved to 3-12-1 overall and 2-7-1 in UCHC games. Chatham saw its overall mark move to 5-11-2 standing 1-7-2 in conference contests. The game also mark the first time the Wilkes women's ice hockey program has played at the arena.
 
Chatham opened the scoring 2:01 into the third period breaking a scoreless game through two frames. Castro then made good on the tying goal at the 15:45 mark taking an Abby Miller (Webster, NY) pass and depositing the puck into the back of the net.
 
The teams went scoreless through the five minute overtime period settling for the tie.
 
Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) finished with 42 saves in net for Wilkes.
 
Wilkes continues its home stretch tomorrow (Sunday) hosting Lebanon Valley College at 3:30 p.m. at the Toyota SportsPlex at Coal Street Park.
