Strong Effort for Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Despite 2-0 Setback at Utica
UTICA, N.Y. – Host Utica College scored one goal in the first period and added an insurance tally in the second frame on way to a 2-0 shutout win over Wilkes University in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action Saturday afternoon.
The loss dropped Wilkes to 4-15-1 overall and 3-10-1 in UCHC games. Utica improved to 9-13-1 overall and 9-4-1 in conference contests.
Levi Stanisewski scored Utica's first goal, the eventual game-winner, 11:41 into the first period. Erica Sloan added an insurance tally 2:33 into the second frame as that was all the scoring between the teams in the contest.

Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) finished with 41 saves in net for Wilkes on the afternoon.
Laurenne Fraser (Salt Lake City, UT) was solid in the face-off circle going 12-of-20 on draws.
Wilkes returns home Monday when the Colonels face No. 4 Elmira College at 1:00 p.m. at the Toyota SportsPlex in a rescheduled game from last week.
