No. 13 Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey Falls in Regular Season Finale at No. 3 Utica
UTICA, N.Y. – The No. 13 Wilkes University men's ice hockey team closed out the 2019-2020 regular season with a 5-1 defeat at No. 3 Utica College in United Collegiate Hockey Conference action on Saturday evening.
The Colonels conclude the regular season with a 14-4-0 record in league play, 18-7-0 overall.
Utica jumped to a 5-0 lead with one goal in the first, three in the second, and one in the third.
Donald Flynn (Randolph, NJ/) got Wilkes on the board at 1:39 of the third with an assist from Ben Stefanini (Framingham, MA).
The Pioneers finished one-for-six on the power-play while the Colonels earned just one power-play opportunity in the game.
Michael Paterson-Jones (Baldwinsville, NY) stopped 36 shots for Wilkes.
The Colonels will return to action on Friday when they host game one of the UCHC Tournament semifinals at the Toyota SportsPlex. The Colonels opponent will be decided during the week after quarterfinal play with the time of the game to be announced.
