Carlini Sets New Career Saves Record for Wilkes Women's Lacrosse
EDWARDSVILLE – Wilkes University women's lacrosse senior Sarah Carlini (Collegeville, PA/Pope John Paul II) set a new program record for saves with her 17th stop of the game, reaching 534 as the Colonels suffered their first defeat of the season 13-7 against College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday afternoon.
The Colonels are now 2-1 on the season.
Mount Saint Vincent got the scoring started 17 seconds into the contest with an unassisted score.
Domenica Lerch (Northampton, PA/Northampton) put Wilkes on the board with 27:17 left in the first half on a free-position shot.
Camryn Devitt (Northampton, PA/Northampton) gave the Colonels their first lead with 26:05 on the clock with an assist from Lerch.
Lauren Delamater (Dallas, PA/Dallas) increased Wilkes' lead with 24:39 on the clock on a free-position goal.
Delamater put the Colonels up 4-1 with at the 23:08 mark with an assist from Sierra Duman (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna).
Mount Saint Vincent put a man-up goal on the board to cut the score to 4-2 before Devitt notched a free-position goal to make the score 5-2 Wilkes with under 20 minutes in the initial half.
From there, the Dolphins put up five consecutive goals to take a 7-5 lead.
Delamater stopped the run with just over five minutes left in the first half with an unassisted goal.
Mount Saint Vincent scored three goals over the remainder of the half as the Colonels trailed 10-6 heading into the intermission.
The Dolphins began the scoring in the second half with an unassisted goal at 21:56. Mount Saint Vincent added two more goals to make the score 13-6.
Delamater finished the scoring to reach the final score.
Carlini stopped 18 shots for Wilkes.
The Colonels return to the field on Saturday when they travel to Bryn Mawr College for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game.
