BRYN MAWR, PA – Host Bryn Mawr College took an eight point lead at the break then posted seven unanswered goals over the final 30 minutes on way to an 18-3 victory over Wilkes University Saturday afternoon at Applebee Field.
 
Wilkes suffered its second straight defeat dropping to 2-2 overall on the year. Bryn Mawr improved to 2-0 on the season following the home win.
 
After Bryn Mawr scored to open the game, Domenica Lerch (Northampton, PA/Northampton) answered for Wilkes with her seventh goal of the year thanks to an assist from Ashley Burkhardt (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) with 28:07 on the clock.  After two straight Bryn Mawr goals, Wilkes answered again when Lauren Delamater (Dallas, PA/Dallas) found the back of the net to cut the lead to 3-2 with 22:07 left in the first half.
 
The Bryn Mawr advantage increased to 6-2 before the Colonels scored their final goal of the contest as Camryn Devitt (Northampton, PA/Northampton) scored unassisted at the 7:47 mark of the half. Five straight goals to end the half gave the hosts a comfortable lead at the break up 11-3.
 
Bryn Mawr added to its eight point lead at the break with seven consecutive goals over the final thirty minutes to seal the non-conference victory.
 
Bryn Mawr held a 46-7 shot advantage while converting all 11 of its clearing attempts.
 
Meghan O'Shea led 10 Bryn Mawr players who recorded points with six tallies on two goals and four assists.
 
Sarah Carlini (Collegeville, PA/Pope John Paul II) suffered the loss in net for Wilkes finishing with nine saves in just over 48 minutes of action. Melania Velasquez (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) entered in relief playing the final 12 minutes making one save.
 
Wilkes returns home for a non-conference matchup against Wesley College Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
