Wilkes Men's and Women's Basketball Hit the Road for DeSales Saturday
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will continue Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play Saturday afternoon when they travel to DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa. The women's game will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the men following at 3:00 p.m.

Women's Preview:
Wilkes enters Saturday's contest with an 8-12 overall record and 2-7 MAC Freedom record after falling to Stevens on Wednesday 72-47.
Senior center Gianna Roberts (Nanticoke, PA/Nanticoke) led the team in points, scoring 16 in the team's matchup against the Ducks. Roberts ranks top-25 in the conference for rebounding with an average of 3.5 per-game. Freshman Macy Berryman (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain East), who has been named as the January Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III - North Rookie of the Month, contributed nine points and leads the team in three-pointers for the season while ranking seventh in the conference for made three-pointers.
Junior guard Vanessa Whitecavage (Shenandoah, PA/Marian Catholic) added six points for Wilkes on Wednesday while having a season high of three-point field goal attempts with seven. She also had a career-high six assists. Katelyn Kinczel (Highland Heights, OH/Mayfield) put up six points and a career-high seven rebounds and ranks fifth on the team for scoring with 4.9 ppg.
Wilkes ranks seventh in the conference in scoring offense at 54.9 ppg and fourth in scoring defense, surrendering 61.9 ppg.
DeSales enters Saturday's contest with a 16-4 overall record and 8-1 conference record.
Averi Jordan leads the Bulldogs in scoring averaging 15.8 ppg, which ranks third in the conference. Jordan also takes sixth in the conference for rebounding, averaging 8.2 per-game. Teammate Molly Jansco ranks top-25 in the conference in scoring and 13th for rebounding.
DeSales ranks third in the conference in scoring offense at 71.4 ppg and first in scoring defense with 57.0 ppg.
DeSales hold a 22-0 record over Wilkes dating back to the 2009 season including a 70-55 victory at the Marts Center on January 15th.
Men's Preview:
Wilkes is 9-11 overall and 2-7 in MAC Freedom play after an 82-72 loss to Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday night.
Senior Guard Rob Pecorelli (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) led the team in points with 30 for the Colonels in the team's last matchup with the Ducks. Pecorelli currently ranks fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 18.9 points-per-game (ppg). He had season high in field goals and field goals made, 24 and 11, respectively. Pecorelli also takes the fourth spot in assists within the conference, with an average of 4.1 per-game. Mark Mullins (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley), who contributed 13 points for Wilkes, also ranks among the top-10 within the conference in scoring, averaging 14.9 ppg.
Sophomore guard Drake Marshall (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) scored 11 points and had a season high with three steals. Jake Robel (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) added eight points and ranks in the top-25 in the conference in scoring and fourth with blocked shots with an average of 1.2 per-game.
The Colonels lead the conference in scoring offense averaging 77.3 ppg and rank sixth in scoring defense allowing 74.5 ppg.
DeSales is set to host the Colonels with a 14-6 overall record and 7-2 MAC Freedom conference record.
Timmy Edwards leads the Bulldogs averaging 14.5 ppg and ranks top-10 in scoring within the conference. Matt Kachelries is also top-five on DeSales with scoring and leads the conference in assists averaging 4.8 per-game.
The Bulldogs rank second in scoring offense at 76.3 points and thrid in scoring defense at 70.0 points.
DeSales holds a 17-7 record over Wilkes dating back to the 2009 season including a 79-74 win at the Marts Center earlier this season.
