EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's soccer team was on the offensive all night, outshooting Delaware Valley University 33-4 as it defeated the Aggies 2-0 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action at Bruggeworth Field on Tuesday evening.

The Colonels moved up to the four-seed in the conference standings with the victory, with their record at 3-2-2 in league play and 7-7-2 overall.

Wilkes opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Emily Bidelspach (Myerstown, PA/ELCO) started a counter-rush after a Delaware Valley corner kick, finding Sarah Eliff (Owings, MD/Northern) who sprinted past a handful of defenders before putting a shot into the lower right corner for the 1-0 lead.

The Colonels doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Eliff raced up the sideline and turned the corner before playing the ball into the box off Katie Sites (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford Area), who deflected the ball into the net for the 2-0 advantage.

Wilkes came inches away from a third tally in the 39th minute when Jenna Jedlicka (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) struck a laser with eyes for the top right corner but Delaware Valley goalkeeper Olivia Sherwood was up to the task with a diving save.

Tatiana Mancera (Miami, FL/Archimedean Upper Conservatory) just missed giving the Colonels that elusive third goal in the 86th minute when she ricocheted a shot off the crossbar.

Hannah Landis (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) earned the victory, making one save over the initial 64 minutes. Lauren Sweeney (West Chester, PA/West Chester Rustin) closed out the final 26 minutes, making one save.

Wilkes closes out the regular season on Saturday when it travels to DeSales University for a 12:00 p.m. MAC Freedom game.
