Wilkes Men's Soccer Stays in Postseason Hunt with 3-0 Win over Delaware Valley
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's soccer team kept its postseason push alive with a 3-0 win over Delaware Valley University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Wednesday evening at Bruggeworth Field.
The Colonels improved to 4-3-0 in conference play, 11-6-0 overall and are currently tied for fourth in the conference standings.
Wilkes opened the scoring in the 40
th minute when
Ryan Marr (Taneytown, MD/Francis Scott Key) scored with an assist from
Lucas Mueller (Dusseldorf, Germany/Quirinus- Gynasium), with the score standing at 1-0 as the halftime horn sounded.
The Colonels struck early in the second half as
Andrew Reichard (Easton, PA/Easton Area) broke through with an assist from
Matthew Horwedel (Delanson, NY/Schalmont Senior) in the 50
th minute.
Mueller finished the scoring in the 65
th minute assisted by
Gabriel Nieves (Yorktown Heights, NY/Lakeland Senior).
Zach Tone (Easton, PA/Easton Area) earned the victory.
Wilkes outshot the Aggies 25-2 and had a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Colonels close out the regular season on Saturday when they travel to DeSales for a 2:15 p.m. MAC Freedom game.
