Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Shutout at SUNY Canton
CANTON, NY – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team dropped the second half of its weekend doubleheader at SUNY Canton Saturday afternoon by a 5-0 score.
Wilkes dropped to 1-7-0 following the non-conference loss. SUNY Canton improved its record to 8-2-1 with the home victory.
The Kangaroos got goals from five different players. SUNY Canton's goals came at 13:01 of the first period, 10:27, 13:35, and 16:22 of the second and 4:02 of third. Halle McKinnon led the way with three points on one goal and two assists.
Wilkes was 0-for-2 on the power play while SUNY Canton went 2-for-4.
Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) made 35 saves for the Colonels while Sirena Alvarez earned the shutout with 12 saves.
Sarah Uhall (Greensburg, PA/) won 11 faceoffs for the Colonels while
Gianna Manzi (Aston, PA/) contributed nine wins.
The Colonels are now off until the New Year when they return to United Collegiate Hockey Conference play with a doubleheader at Chatham University on January 7th and 8th.
