Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Drops 4-2 Decision to Stevenson
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team fell 4-2 to visiting Stevenson University in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action from the Toyota SportsPlex on Friday evening.
The Colonels fell to 1-4-0 with the defeat.
Valerie Koenig (Arlington, TX/) got Wilkes on the board at 9:53 of the first when she knuckled a shot into the back of the net assisted by
Quinn Rodefeld (Blaine, MN/).
Stevenson pulled ahead with goals at 12:58 of the first, 0:44 of the second, and 1:27 of the third as it took a 3-1 lead.
The Colonels cut the deficit to one at 6:17 of the third when
Julie Patterson (Trenton, NJ) broke through with an assist from Koenig, but the Mustangs put the game away with a tally at 16:02 of the third.
Addy Olson (Naples, FL/) stopped 39-of-43 shots sent her way.
Wilkes returns to action tomorrow when they host Stevenson for a 3:30 p.m. UCHC contest.
